Born in Sydney. Following a dance education at The Australian Ballet School and Victorian College of the Arts, Ashley began her professional career with Royal Ballet of Flanders where she performed for 6 years under the direction of Kathryn Bennetts. In 2012 she moved on to join l'Opera de Lyon until 2015 and from 2016 as guest artist with the company.
As a choreographer, Ashley created Better Left Unsaid, for the Royal Ballet of Flanders in 2009. The piece was awarded 2nd prize and Audience Choice Award at the Copenhagen International Choreographic Competition that year. The Elephant has left,This Room. premiered in 2015 for l'Opera de Lyon and Because it’s not going to come to a Beginning for the 2016 Festival Tanz Theatre International Hannover. In May 2017, May Contain Traces Of. a collaboration with dancer and composer Tadayoshi Kokeguchi, was commissioned by Les Subsistances Laboratoire International de Création Artistique, Lyon. In April 2018 worked alongside French film director Christophe Honoré for the World Premiere Don Carlos for l'Opera de Lyon. Ten People in the shape of a Lemming Premiered May 2018 for Austinmer Dance Theatre and NOT A PARTY TOO SOON for Sydney Dance Company PPY at CarraigeWorks, Sydney, Australia.
As a freelance artist since 2017, she is based between Lyon and Berlin working as a member of Emanuel Gat Dance, STRATES Association Harris Gkekas and with Cyril Baldy for VARIATION which premiered at Treloarland in Melbourne, Australia in 2018 and most recently Variations for a Few November 2019 at the Frankfurt LAB as part of the Tanzfestival Rhein Main.
Ashley teaches classes and workshops internationally in places such as Mousonturm Tanzhaus Frankfurt, Sydney Dance Company, Transit Dance Melbourne, Austinmer Dance Theatre, Ev & Bow Dance Centre Sydney, Palermo InDanza Summer Intensive 2019 among others.
In 2018 Axial Void Collections was formed; A malleable dance, performance and sound installation platform, based in Berlin.
